EICR’s

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR’s) is a great way to check the safety of the properties electrical system. The work includes a visual check on the entire installation, then followed by tests to confirm the safety and integrity of the electrical installation. Once completed we will issue you with a full report which identify any issues which we found in the installation.

EICR’s are now a requirement for when you either sell the property, rent it out to a new tenant and EICR’s are also a great way to give you that peace of mind that your electrical installation is safe for continued use.

Prices vary on the property type, location, occupied or un-occupied, amount of circuits to be tested, the amount of consumer units (fuseboards) which require testing, whether there is parking on site.

Consumer unit upgrades

Consumer units, also known as fuseboards, are a vital part of your electrical installation and you must ensure it offers the best level of protection to you and your property. Electrical technological advancements have continuously improved therefore new consumer units now offer much better levels of protection than those original fuseboards such as a rewireable fuseboards, or part RCD protected consumer units. New consumer units now offer additional levels of protection such as surge protection devices, arc fault detection device, residual current device (RCD) or residual current breaker with over-current (RCBO).

Our process for carrying out a consumer unit upgrade is as follows:

Carry out a EICR on the circuits which are connected to the proposed consumer unit to be upgraded.

If the EICR proves the installation will be in a safe condition once we complete the consumer unit upgrade, then we can proceed to carry out the consumer unit upgrade work.

If the EICR proves the installation is currently in a unsatisfactory condition and the consumer unit upgrade will not remedy these concerning issues, then we will quote for any remedial work before carrying out and consumer unit upgrades. Reason is that upon completion of a consumer unit upgrade, we have to issue a Electrical Installation Certificate and notify the local building control of the work carried out. We can not issue these if the installation will be left in a unsatisfactory, or unsafe, condition.

Consumer unit upgrades can take at least half a day without power, although we do ask to expect power to be off for a full working day in case we encounter any issues with the work. We do have portable power supplies to keep low powered appliances on whilst carrying out the work, such as WiFi, Laptops, fridge/ freezers (depending on size).

Full or partial rewiring

Electrical Installation work is an area of building work that should be done according to regulations and installed with no corners cut. It is vital to use a competent electrical contractor that can work to the regulations, not only carrying out the work efficiently, safely, and exactly to the client’s expectations.
